Siam Rath reported that a 75-year-old British man who had been on his way to visit his friend in Petchabun whilst starting to feel sick in Lopburi.
Ian M.H. was admitted to Phra Narai Maharat Hospital for four days, he had previously driven from Chonburi at the weekend..
But when he became better he had racked up a hospital bill of 17,100 baht but had no funds to pay.
The tourist police then arrived on the scene and contacted the British embassy who surprisingly had no record of the man which proved unhelpful.
Pol Maj-Gen Narongrit Yortwichai of the tourist police decided to help him out with food and organized a bed in a resort for the night as the pensioner was in no state to drive …
The plan was to send him back to his home in Chonburi the next day when he was feeling better as they did not want him to drive being so poorly.
The Brit told authorities that he had been in Thailand for 15 years and had no relatives left here or in the UK,,,
His Thai wife Wanphen previously died two years ago leaving him all alone.
Siam Rath did not report what happened to the hospital bill or if contact was made with the friend in Petchabun where the pensioner was heading.
The story will be continued..

BBC Israel has reportedly developed a breathalyzer that may be able to detect the Covid-19 virus in those who don’t even show symptoms, making it a potentially promising way to control the spread of the virus. The new technology is set to be used on airplanes and other methods of travel where it can identify if the virus is present on someone’s breath-at an accuracy rate of 92%.
